Racing Back In The Day

So what ever happened to those fast jet boats they made back in the 70s and 80s? Most manufacturers either went out of business or stopped making them. You cant find a 2007 Taylor SS or a Kona, but you can still find that boat you treasured as a kid. Now I was born in the Early 80s so I do remember being on the water watching these jet boats really haul some a**

Generally these boats would run at least 60 or 70 miles an hour. Well I've got one for you that will run over 90. You can buy this without a breaking the bank. For what you can buy an entry level Baja for you could have this.

The 20 foot Carrera Eclipse. Pair this with a Chevy 502 and you are shooting a rostertail (water out of your jet drive) to the moon. The boat has an option of a dominator or american turbine jet drive. Both are good drives, but I'd rather have a Berkeley high performance out drive. You didn't know they still made those did you? Well they do, and for around $4,000 you can have the best outdrive I've ever seen.

A jet drive doesnt get quite as much horsepower to the "prop" as a propellered drive does, but they are so much safer. The jet drive also has a lot better acceleration. To see the entire line of Carrera's visit http://www.carreraboats.com/ .

Stay tuned to my group for more high performance boat news!

Carrera made good looking boats and with lots of performance but they, like many other boat builders, priced Ithemselfs out of the market. The last time I called and spoke to someone at Carrera on a open-bow 20.5 Elite (2005) I was quoted $37,000 to $52,000. Way to much. Now their out of business.
